Entrepreneur Mahatma Gandhi

The world thought that wars can only be won by revenge and violence. But then there came this man of a huge vision with the message of forgiveness and fought his wars through peace. This incredibly inspiring peaceful leader with the brands ‘Truth& Non-Violence’ was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi a.k.a. Mahatma Gandhiji. Entrepreneurship is about bringing a difference, about thinking out of the box. Let’s see what lessons an entrepreneur can learn from Mahatma Gandhi’s life.
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
Learning is a never-ending process; it is boundless. We even hear ‘When you stop learning, you stop growing’. Being an entrepreneur one must always be upto date about everything around him/her, be it contemporary technology or upgraded regulation or about industry happenings or anything, directly or indirectly associated with the business. Also he says “Take care of this moment.” To seize the day and to enjoy the most precious gift ‘The present’ and not live in the mysterious future or in the bygone past!
“The future depends on what you do today.”
In complement to the previous quote, he means that with continuous efforts can unlock our potential and can lead to success. The journey towards the destination starts with small step in the direction. One needs to have belief in the dreams and goals and need to step in that direction. A small step at a time ☺
“Without action, you aren’t going anywhere.”
This seems pretty obvious, but again, Gandhiji drives home the point that if you aren’t taking action, then nothing is going to happen; Start today, take action right now. Make your vision a reality by working on it, execute all the plans you have and you will not only see your dreams come true but also would be living it indeed. That’s how things happen. Belief is great and totally necessary, but taking action is critical, too!
“Be the change that you want to see in the world.”
Gandhiji didn’t actually say this famous quote, but it is his life’s legacy. There’s an old adage that you should only take advice from someone you want to actually be like. Gandhiji didn’t just believe in a free India or talk about being peaceful, he lived it. The world needs you to be the person you are and live the life of the entrepreneur you’re meant to be.
“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.”
Courage as an entrepreneur doesn’t mean you’re never afraid or concerned about what’s to come, it simply means you recognize those emotions and you forge ahead with confidence that you’ll be able to make it through and achieve your vision. Yes, there will be difficulties; It ain’t any cake walk. Experienced people, who might have failed, may try to stop, but it’s in your will to not get demotivates and just listen to your dreams and to walk towards it. And that is why it is said, “he did it because he didn’t know that it was impossible”.
“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.”
One of the important requisite of an entrepreneur is be to be firm at his thoughts; however it is important to get opinions from other. You must ‘Choose to respond’ and not let others control you. Gandhiji also says “Nobody can hurt me without my permission.” With great self-control, one can get rid of distractions of comments by others.
“In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”
The label for Ahinsha (non-violence) is none other than Gandhiji. We know how he changed the perception of winning of war! As Entrepreneur, it becomes very essential to be patient and focused to attain the goal. Adjunct to this, he says “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.” There are chances of unexpected affairs, tither and hither; might be by fellow people as well. But entrepreneurs need to cultivate the convention of ignoring the fact that “who did it” and must focus on “what went wrong” and also on rectifying it.
“Change yourself – you are in control.”
This is a very powerful concept that Gandhi lived every day. You being the entrepreneur can make everything and everyone better off. You have the power to change yourself and you are in control of your life. Entrepreneurs take responsibility for their situation. Gandhiji’s legacy challenges you to do the same thing. You are in control, so where do you want to go and who do you want to be?
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
‘Do what you love, love what you do.’ That is the ultimate reason for happiness on day-to-day basis. When there is sync among what you do, say and think, there won’t be any obstacle between you and your happiness. So, a happy clear mind helps you experience the success. After all, Entrepreneurship is about attitude, about passion!
