In today’s content-saturated world, the challenge isn’t just to create, but to connect. Micro-series have emerged as powerful tools for storytelling, especially in the digital marketing space. At Panorbit, a leading micro-drama agency based in Bangalore, the focus has always been on stories that stay with you. And our original micro-series, ‘It’s Not Working Out,’ is proof of just that.
Writing for the Scroll: Hook, Emotion, and Tension
Creating a compelling micro-series in under 60 seconds is no easy task. Each episode must include a strong hook, emotional depth, character development, and a cliffhanger; all within a minute. At Panorbit, we don’t chase what’s easy, we pursue what’s effective. This principle shaped the storytelling for ‘It’s Not Working Out.’
The writing process followed a simple but powerful structure: Hook, Emotion, and Tension.
- Hook: The first frame shows a couple in a shared space. One line, “It’s not working out” sets the tone. Without backstory or flashbacks, the viewer is drawn into their emotional world in just five seconds.
- Emotion: The narrative slowly reveals the underlying cracks. Through minimal dialogue and visual cues, the audience begins to empathise with the characters and their emotional conflict.
- Tension: The final line of the first episode, “Can we still be flatmates though?” adds ambiguity and emotional weight. This open-ended question keeps the viewer thinking long after the screen goes dark.

Collaboration Behind the Scenes
The success of this micro-drama was not just about the script. It was about the people. Directed by FTII graduate Abhiraj Dethe, ‘It’s Not Working Out’ was new to the Panorbit team. He took the challenge of bringing together and getting familiar with actors, technicians, and creatives, who had never worked together before on a Micro-series before.
Despite being first-timers, the team operated like a seasoned unit. Actors adapted to the director’s style, the cinematographer and director found their visual rhythm, and the entire production moved as one.
Shooting Through the Cold
Production wasn’t without challenges. Night shoots in Bangalore’s winter tested the endurance of the crew. One instance stands out: the cinematographer, shivering from the cold, continued shooting through the night, refusing to let discomfort interrupt the process. This resilience helped shape the visual texture of the micro-series.

Why ‘It’s Not Working Out’ Worked
What made ‘It’s Not Working Out’ a success wasn’t high production value or star power. It was belief in the process, trust in the story and the unified effort of a team that valued emotional clarity over gimmicks. For a micro-drama agency like Panorbit, this project reaffirmed that authentic storytelling, when paired with strategic digital marketing, creates lasting impact.
Micro-Series That Move
At Panorbit, we see the micro-series as more than a reel. They’re brand expressions that connect emotionally. In the realm of digital marketing, attention is short but memory is long. That’s why we believe that when a story is crafted with intention, even 60 seconds can lead to brand breakthroughs.
